Recovering From Childhood Trauma
Part 2: Breaking The Chains of The Past
" One does not become enlightened
by imagining figures of light,
but by making the darkness conscious "
Carl Jung
Recent scientific research has advanced our understanding about the ways that childhood trauma impacts on the growing brain's development and sculpts it in order to facilitate the survival of the individual.
Longer term these solutions and adaptations become problems in themselves and unless the survivor is able to overcome this early life programming, it is unlikely that they will succeed in forming healthy intimate relationships, either with themselves, other people or the wider world.
Recovery is coming out of the 'Dark Ages' and this advanced experiential course will demonstrate how the new knowledge leads to enhanced and radical recovery.
Lecture/demonstration/discussion/structured exercises/guided
imagery/small group process and practice sessions are used to address:
- Roadblocks to intimacy
- Original pain and grief work
- Shame, fear and trauma bound thinking
- Disassociation and flashbacks
- Co-dependence and addictions
- The biology of trauma and body symptoms
- Communication skills for self awareness, self understanding and personal accountability
- Developmental deficits, survival mechanisms and missing life skills
- Enhanced self care
- Projection and transference
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- The traumatized brain and the 'hi-jacking' of cognitive processing
- Evolving consciousness
Each participant works on their own personal recovery issues with significant and advanced specialist therapeutic input from
